Football season is upon us, people! Can I get an Amen?! I wouldn't consider myself a sporty girl, yet athletics have been a part of my life for a while. From pep squad in elementary school, to drill team (a dance team, not the people who do tricks with guns, for all you out-of-staters) in high school, I've been involved from the start. College was the first time I actually got to attend a football game for the fun of it, so I definitely made the most of it. I only missed a game if I happened to be out of town. After graduating over 2 years ago (It will be 3 years in December!), football is still a big part of my life. As most of you know, I work for the apparel division of the Dallas Cowboys. So basically my livelihood depends on the greatest sport known to man. I guess that's why it's such an emotional experience for me- the scoreboard directly affects my mood.

Anyway, with collegiate ball starting this weekend and the NFL season kicking off in a couple of weeks, I couldn't think of a better topic than what to wear/bring to a football game. I will say that since my readers are predominantly in the South, that is what my suggestions are geared to. It doesn't get cold here until the last couple of games, so my tips are going to focus around warmer temps!

What to Wear:

Comfy Shoes. I don't care how much they complete your outfit if you can't walk in them!  I'm not saying to wear your mom's beat-up tennis shoes, I'm just suggesting that you be cute and practical. If your shoes hurt to walk in, they are going to hurt exponentially more after tailgating and transitioning to and from your car/the stadium.

Team Colors. This may seem like a DUH, but I'm just reiterating it. It's so fun to see how my gameday style has evolved. When I was a freshman in college, I made a different gameday dress for each home game. Nowadays as alum status, I stick to colorless logos + accessories. Plus if you can wear the piece not only to a football game, but to work or a different event too, it is easier to shop! For example, I will be wearing this to the second Baylor game. I can also wear it to my friend's upcoming bridal shower and to the office with a cardigan.

Sunscreen. Those first few games are usually scorchers. Even if you have a night game, you'll probably be in the sun while you're tailgating. If you don't want to put it on your body, at least wear some sunscreen in your makeup. My favorite is Motives Liquid Powder. It provides excellent coverage that doesn't sweat off + SPF 15. I'm fair, and I don't even have to put any face sunscreen on, in addition to it.

Sweater. This is for those chilly night games that are a couple months away, if you are below the Mason Dixon Line. So, just pack this thought away until Halloween.

Things to Bring:

A Clutch. Notice that I said a clutch, meaning a small purse. Not only is this important if you are attending a Dallas Cowboys game, but for an increasingly amount of other stadiums as well! You can either bring in a small bag, like the size of mine, or tote your belongings for the world to see, in a clear plastic bag. If you're just attending college ball, you're usually safe with your larger tote. But, unless you have kids, do you really need your LV Neverfull GM at the game? Most likely not! I usually carry a couple essentials with me: my keys, ID, phone, chapstick, hand sanitizer, bandaids, a tide pen, Aleve, and a pony tailer. Anything else I want to bring, I store in the car and can walk back to get it, if need be. Oh, and don't forget the tickets!

Water. I know, I know. You probably think I'm a party pooper; however, you have got to drink water, especially if you are consuming alcohol. Save your celebratory beer for after you win, or at least wait to imbibe until after these first few blistering games. At the first game last year, I hadn't had any alchohol and drank a ton of water, and still felt like I was going to pass out. I also suggest bringing Gatorade. It has a lot of sugar, so it really helps if you do feel faint.

Tailgate Food. I'm the girl who comes for the food. It is one of my favorite parts of football season!  Follow along my journey to find the best tailgate items via my pinterest board, dedicated to the football game foodie. Everyone loves the person with the tastiest treat, so why not let that be you?;) Oh and fun TG games wouldn't hurt to bring either.

Spirit! Now you're ready for the game. Have fun and my the odds be ever in your team's favor!

Baylor's first home game is Saturday, September 12th and I will be there with bells on! I plan on wearing the romper from this post, but pairing it with this necklace, these earrings, this bracelet and these shoes.

How do you prep for gamedays? Did I leave off any helpful tips? How many others are super excited for this season?!
