What up fashion post!! If you didnā€™t know, LMents of Style began strictly as a fashion blog. That is what my background is (I studied apparel merchandising in college), so it just made sense. Over the years I have transitioned to more of a lifestyle blog. I still feature fashion, but talk about things like travel, beauty, and loads of personal things. To be honest, the deeper posts are the ones that fulfill me the most; however, I still love to write fashion stories. During this pandemic I havenā€™t really touched on fashion because there were a lot more pertinent ideas to cover anddd we werenā€™t going anywhere, so why talk about clothing? Iā€™ve pretty much been living in Lulu, though some days I get dressed. I guess I should get dressed more because one day I was literally wearing jeans and a white t-shirt and Nick said ā€œoh, you dressed up today?!ā€ Hah!

Anyway, back to dayā€™s topic at handā€¦ how to style a Gigi Pip hat! Keep reading for more about the brand and how to wear their beautiful hats.

P.S. You can use discount code ELLEMULENOS for 10% off your Gigi Pip order.

I bought my first Gigi Pip hat last fall. It was the Monroe Rancher hat in black. I loved it so much that I purchased another Monroe this spring, but in ivory. Recently I won a giveaway with Gigi Pip and decided to brand out from my sweet love Monroe and try the Miller Fedora in brown. It is so good and Iā€™m happy to have a light brown hat, so all my neutrals are covered. I guess I just need a grey hat now ;)

If youā€™re wondering, the biggest differences between the Monroe and the Miller are the crown and the bill. The Monroe bill is more firm. While the Miller bill holds its shape, it is more floppy / bendable. Youā€™ll see that the Monroe has a piping around the edge of the brim whereas the Miller does not. Also, the Miller crown is taller / bigger than the Monroe. I prefer to wear the Monroe flat on my head and the Miller more on the back of my head, tilted up.

Okay so youā€™re sold on the fact that the hat is cute and you want one, but worried you may not pull off a Gigi Pip hat and arenā€™t sure how to style itā€¦Donā€™t worry. Iā€™ve been there! I waited so long to order a Gigi Pip Monroe Rancher, because I thought I would look like a poser. I honestly wish I would have ordered one sooner because not only is a GP hat a great statement piece, but it can also pull together an outfit or even MAKE a look.

My biggest tip on how to wear a Gigi Pip hat is to pull a Nike and just do it. Just fake it until you make it, because eventually wearing a hat will come naturally. Once you get past this step can you start styling!

If youā€™re new to styling a Gigi Pip hat , Iā€™d recommend starting by planning the outfit around the hat; otherwise, you may not feel comfortable wearing the hat. Most Gigi Pip hats are very much statement pieces. The hats speak for themselves! Try pairing them with neutrals that are casual everyday pieces. Not only will this be easier to style, but it will also allow you to incorporate the hat into your everyday look. Here I paired my brown hat with jeans, a white t-shirt and a pop of olive. I typically donā€™t wear statement earring or necklaces with my GP hats; however, my necklace hung low enough that I felt it flattered the hat versus took away from it. This is the most basic way to wear a Gigi Pip hat. Once you feel good doing this, you can start using it to dress up or dress down looks!

The beach look Iā€™m featuring today is very much a casual summer, maybe even transition into fall look; however, I pair my GP hats with dresses, sweatshirts and more! Scroll below to see some more ideas for styling your Gigi Pip hats!

Plaid Blazer Full Outfit Details - A perfect look for work! I love how easily it styles with a blazer.

Suede Skirt Full Outfit Details - Another outfit I would wear to work, but would also wear elsewhere.

Floral Mini Skirt Full Outfit Details - Yet another great look for work! I actually wore this wine tasting, so it works elsewhere. Wearing a hat to work is a great way to hide dirty hair when youā€™re out of dry shampoo ;) My hair was too short for a ponytail here, so this hat was the next best thing!

Black Flares Full Outfit Details - I love a good flared jean! This hat pairs perfectly.

Buffalo Check Full Outfit Details - This is an easy / casual look for winter / fall.

Black and Grey Full Outfit Details - I wore this look on a day out and about.

Tan Pullover Full Outfit Details - A classic and casual, yet somehow dressed up look!

Black Midi Dress Full Outfit Details - I wore this look around the house. Since I didnā€™t have on makeup / still had my glasses on, I felt like it dressed up my home look.

White Dress Full Outfit Details - I dressed my little white dress down with my ivory hat here! I know I said I donā€™t typically wear statement earrings with my hats, but I thought it looked great with this outfit!

Tan Midi Sweater Dress Full Outfit Details - This hat dressed up my knit midi dress even while I made it sporty with my sneakers!

Sweatshirt Full Outfit Details - I dressed up my sweatshirt look with this hat!

Denim Shorts Full Outfit Details - I wore this outfit around the house. It made doing laundry look chic ;)

I donā€™t have any other stylings of my Miller fedora yet (all of the above minus the beach pics are Monroes), but canā€™t wait to style it more! Which is your favorite look?

The only other tip I have for Gigi Pip hats is to wear smaller sunglasses with them. I find my oversized sunglasses hit the under-brim of my hat and it isnā€™t as comfortable. Oh! and youā€™ll notice that all of these hats are felt. In LA we donā€™t really have seasons, so I wear them year-round. Regardless of where you are and the seasons, I think you can wear them. If the felt bothers you, Gigi Pip did just launch some straw hats that are darling and perfect for summer!

Enjoy your Gigi Pip and happy styling! Use discount code ELLEMULENOS for free shipping on your order! You normally have to spend $125 for free shipping and the most expensive hat is $112.
