Where to Stay in Yountville: North Block Hotel

This trip marked my 4th trip to Napa, but only my 2nd to stay in The Valley and my 1st time staying in Yountville! We stayed in Calistoga last year and the other times, we hopped back and forth between SF and The Valley. (If youāre trying to decide between staying in San Francisco and Napa click here) Thereās just something about staying in the Valley and Yountville was a great hub to stay. I loved staying in Calistoga and would 100% stay there again, but in my opinion youāre a lot closer to things in Yountville vs Calistoga, obviously depending what your itinerary entails.

We arrived very late at night, so we didnāt get to take in the beauty of North Block Hotel immediately. BUT I was immediately impressed. You know why? THEY HAVE HEATED BATHROOM FLOORS. My poor tired feet arrived around 3 am (another story for another day) and they were just what the doctor ordered! Not to mention, their bathroom in general was pretty amazingā¦ big enough for us to stretch out in, had a tub AND a shower, plus cute little tea light candles ready for a relaxing evening, after a hard day of wine tasting ;)
You know what my other favorite thing besides heated floors was? THE FOOD. North Block Hotel is arranged in a way that you basically have a bunch of apartments and the cutest courtyard that opens up to the lobby on one side and the Redd Wood restaurant on the other side. The lobby is the coziest place and they have yummy tea (my fave was the lemon ginger) and coffee). Every morning starting at 8 am, Redd Wood serves complimentary breakfast to the guests of North Block. They have Bouchon pastries (get the savory scone!), famous Redd Wood potatoes, bacon, boiled eggs, mini quiche, grapefruit and yogurt. It is NOT your average continental breakfast for sure. We also dined at Redd Wood for dinner one night and had some amazing homemade pastas! We didnāt try their pizza, but if you want a great pie, Iād go to Pizzeria Tra Vigne.

Back to the beauty of North Blockā¦ it feels like a tiny European town and its charm shines through and through. Chances are that youāll see a hot air balloon float by, as you leave your room in the morning. You may not even want to leave your room because itās so nice, plus it has a stove top and a refrigerator so youāre pretty much set , BUT if you can move yourself, maybe head to the North Blockās pool or spa.
