I'm currently laying in bed, with a full on case of the Sunday scaries! Remind me why I don't have tomorrow off again?! I actually feel a migraine coming on, so praying that it goes away over night. Do you plan your outfit the night before? I have done it for a while. Now-a-days, I try and leave before 5 am, so I can make it to the gym and my morning is kind of crazy if I don't prep my look the night before. Even if I decide to sleep in, my day is so much better when I can easily pick out what I'm going to wear.

What about those days where you just feel off? Or when you longingly stare at your closet hoping something will come out at you and say WEAR ME, like Alice and Wonderland's  DRINK ME notes? This is when you need to rally your basics and go from there. You know the pieces you know you like, that feel good AND look good. The ones that can pretty much be worn to anything by styling it the right way. Don't know what I'm talking about? Enter this strappy knit skater dress.

About 2 years ago, I wrote a post called what to wear when you don't know what to wear. Hint, it involves the color black. I love wearing black, because it is instantly chic and looks good on everyone. This dress fits in that box. It's black, but also stretchy and comfortable, so instant perfection. (it does come in a navy/white stripe and mauve too, if you want to try those out). My love for this dress doesn't stop at its shade though.

You've heard me say it before and you will for sure here me say it again, but versatility is key! This dress is your new best friend. I styled it with a moto jacket for a bit more of an edgy and dressed up feel. Dress it down by throwing on a chambray shirt and knotting it in the front. Come summer, it will be the perfect sundress as you pair it with little sandals. Enter fall by layering it with a denim jacket and sneakers or even some tights and over the knee boots. Geeze I should have really written this like one of my  "styled 3 ways" posts. Next time y'all, next time.

Anyway, as a fashion blogger who studied apparel and currently works in the wholesale market, I 100% understand and appreciate trends, BUT your basics are where it is at. You can always make a basic trendy with accessories and usually a lot cheaper than the other way around. Believe it or not, this dress is from Abercrombie. Almost a year and a half ago, I posted about a couple stores that were making a comeback and A&F was one of them! (read Bringing Back the 90s: Stores you Forgot about Part 2 here)  They have some prettttty good basics. What is your favorite place to shop for basics? Some of my other favorites are Nordstrom and Loft!

P.S. if you liked this post, you'll probably like my other recent posts that also involve the color black;) Click below to check them out!
