SHOW ME YOUR MUMU Upton Off The Shoulder Gown | Lawless Soft Matte Liquid Lipstick in Romeo | Sam Edelman Ankle Strap Sandals | Nick’s whole outfit is from Nordstrom
Almost a month ago, Nick and I went to Seattle for his cousin’s wedding. He was actually officiating and wearing a black suit per the bride’s request, so I knew I wanted to coordinate somehow. Anddd of course I wanted a new dress. I mentioned I’ve mentioned it 1000 times and I try to exhibit smart shopping with my The Art of Versatility posts (which I need to do another really soon!), but most recently I mentioned it on this Instagram Post. When I shop, I am always asking myself questions like 1) is it good quality 2) will I want to wear it in a year 3) is it timeless 4) is it worth the price, etc you know the drill. I like to buy things to re-wear until they fall apart. And usually that means they are a neutral color of sorts, my favorite being black.
This dress isn’t just a dress that I would buy on a whim though, while we are on this subject of budgets… It is a little pricey, but I know that it’s made in America (which costs more + I’m supporting American jobs), is a classic silhouette, so I can wear it for a while, andddd pretty much doesn’t wrinkle. #perfection I will say that I had to size up to a Medium and I normally wear a Small in this brand. I purchased a similar high neck black maxi dress for Nick’s company trip to Laguna Beach a couple years ago - it is the same brand and I still wear it! I featured it on this blog post if you want to see it. You might ask why I didn’t just wear that one… The other dress felt a little more beachy and I wanted to feel more PNW.
I know I referenced a black tie wedding, which yes, this dress would be perfect for, but honestly, I’d wear it elsewhere too! The wedding we attended wasn’t black tie and I felt fine in it; however, I’m one who would rather be overdressed than underdressed ;) Anyway, just wanted to do a post about being an outfit repeater. With social media, it might seem like you neeeed a new dress, but the great thing about shopping for versatility is that you can dress it up or down and style it many different ways. Just like new!! What’s your go to every occasion outfit?!
Oh and I spoke about these flowers on Instagram, but I wasn’t in the wedding or anything. I purchased them at Pike Place, but did you really go there if you don’t get flowers? ;) But really, their bouquets are AWESOME.
