Being a Great Dane, Dino has always required a large bed. He’s pretty big and Danes are known to have bad joints, so it is imperative that he has a good place to rest. The problem has always been that Dino is a puppy (he’s only 18 months right now) and chews his beds up. Before we left Texas, Dino used an old twin mattress as a bed, but we chose not to move with it and just used blankets and pillows. Shortly after arriving to California, we realized he had outgrown the bite the bed phase and was ready for something new!

Our LA apartment is quite a bit smaller than our Dallas place, so a twin mattress was not the answer size wise. Not to mention, it is a bit of an eye-sore. We needed something cute and functional. Something that we wouldn’t be embarrassed to leave out when guests are here, plus something that would be good on Dino’s hips. I researched a lot and fell in love with this memory foam bed from Paw.com. I reached out to them and they were kind enough to send Dino one AND give me a discount code for you!! So what makes this Paw.com bed sooo good? Well first of all, they have tons dog beds, so if this one isn’t the one for you, they have a lot more to choose from. I was initially drawn to this PupRug because it is memory foam, which was a MUST for Dino’s next bed. I also loved that it literally looks like a rug vs a bed, so it would coordinate with our bedroom, but would also work well in the living room decor. Additionally, it was pretty big, so he can sprawl out and I could cuddle him on it if I wanted to ;)
Those are all purely functional aesthetic features, but probably my favorite thing is that they really thought through dog beds and all the problems that can arise. When you receive the bed, it will come in 3 parts - the insert, the waterproof zipper case, and the outer shell (faux fur part). The top layer is completely machine washable and the inner case protects the mattress from bathroom accidents and severe drool. Additionally, they sell new outer covers, so in the event one isn’t fix with a simple wash or simply needs to be replaced, you can just buy a new faux fur part instead of spending money on a whole new bed. Talk about practical!! Dino is very much past his potty in the house phase, but it sometimes happens still - if he goes now, it is usually because he is sick or we miss his cues. I’m especially thankful they thought that last part through, as it saves so much time and money!
Has your pupper been good this year? Maybe Santa Paws can bring them a new bed… especialllly since he can get 10% off w/code ELLE10! I still love our PupRug Runner, but I also really like this faux cowhide rug one too! You can see the cowhide one below, but notice it comes in other prints like leopard, zebra, tiger and more! This is one that is similar to the bed we have, but it is shorter and a little wider. This grey one is pretty much the same as ours, but is a different color. And even still, there are so many more pup beds to choose from. Orthopedic beds in general can be expensive., I’m super happy with ours since it is a good price and looks great! In my previous experience those facts coupled together are hard to come by. Definitely worth the money! Happy shopping!!
