About a month ago, my husband, his immediate family, and I made the trek to Miami, Florida for a close family friend’s {small} wedding. I had been to Palm Beach and Orlando areas, but I had never been to Miami before. Unless you count the airport… I have had several connecting flights through MIA. Hah!

Keep reading for what we did on our trip and a full list of Miami recommendations!

It was a very quick trip. We left LA on a Thursday morning and were in Miami until Sunday morning. If I had to do it again, I probably would have stayed at least one more day. Going from west coast to east coast is brutal. We left around 9:30 on Thursday morning and didn’t arrive in Miami until 5:30 pm due to the time change. And that’s a nonstop flight! If you can, grab a red eye, but make sure it is nonstop; otherwise, I’d pick a different flight.

We stayed at Nobu Miami Beach, though we also considered Palihouse Miami Beach. Ultimately we picked Nobu because it was on the beach, though Palihouse does have a car that takes you to the beach if you wanted. If you only plan on staying on the beach / the area, I think Nobu is a great option. We didn’t plan to stay there the whole time, so we ended up ubering a lot. The only restaurants on property are Malibu farm and Nobu. They are great, but we and have them back in LA, so it wasn’t somewhere we really wanted to frequent. Cecconis Miami is walking distance, but we have one in Santa Monica. I really wanted to go to Faena (20 min walk from Nobu), but they didn’t open for the season until after we left, the tail end of October. All that to say, we liked where we stayed, but also consider where you are wanting to spend time!

When we arrived Thursday evening, we went to Havana 1975. We had a party of 8, so we had to kind of take what we could get. It was good. Nothing crazy special, but the mojitos were yummy and the Cubano was great! I wish we had time to find a hole in the wall Cuban restaurant instead. Friday we had brunch - I honestly can’t remember where and it isn’t worth me trying to figure it out for you. Hah! After that, we spent the afternoon at the beach and the pool. Friday evening we had dinner at Pane & Vino and it was delicious. Fresh, handmade pasta. So yummy! After that we went to A La Folie for dessert crepes and they were DIVINE. We liked it so much, we actually went back to A La Folie for breakfast and it still held up. So good!! We then spent a short amount of time at the pool, then got ready for the wedding. It was at the yacht club on Key Biscayne, so we had a bit of a drive, but it was beautiful. Sunday morning we woke up and left. Like I said… it was quick! BUT I have a full list of recommendations to try, so I can’t wait to go back.
