Palma-whoodi-whati? I know, I know. Before Primally Pure, I had never even heard of Palmarosa either; however, now I don’t usually go a day without using it in my skincare routine. If Palmarosa sounds somewhat familiar, you may remember it from this blog post. I shared that Primally Pure has 2 “beauty creams” - one with blue tansy and one with Palmarosa. Let’s dig into Palmarosa specifically now!

Primally Pure Palmarosa and Mint Beauty Cream (get 10% off with discount code ELLEMULENOS) | Warby Parker Glasses | Sleeveless Denim Top | White Jeans | Gold Shelving (old, similar here) | Palmarosa Essential Oil

Side note - we recently invested in some herbs, to make a mini herb garden on our patio! The plant I’m holding here is mint. I thought it was perfect, because my favorite Palmarosa skincare product also has mint!! You can try it for 10% off with discount code ELLEMULENOS.

WHAT IS PALMAROSA

Palmarosa is a tall, tropical grass that is also known as Turkish (or Indian) Geranium. That being said, it has shares similarities with geraniums, in addition to lemongrass and even roses! While it does have somewhat of a floral scent, I typically get more citrus notes. Either way, it smells good! Palmarosa is typically made into an oil and has been popularized in diffuser blends, massage oils, and even skincare products.

BENEFITS OF PALMAROSA OIL

Whether you are sniffing it, rubbing in in, or slathering it on your face, you could benefit from Palmarosa in these ways:

  • Alleviates arthritis and rheumatism

  • Balances oil production of skin

  • Boosts mood

  • Combats bacteria

  • Fights acne

  • Heals cuts and bruises

  • Moisturizes skin

  • Prevents inflammation

  • Relieves stress and anxiety

  • Treats skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis

WOW. I mean, is there anything Palmarosa can’t do? My favorite product using its greatness is Primally Pure Palmarosa and Mint Beauty Cream. Try it for 10% off with discount code ELLEMULENOS. I love to use it on my breakouts, as it combats bacteria causing acne and won’t dry it out like a lot of other acne products. You don’t want acne to be dry, because that can often times make it more irritated. When I was first dealing with my bad breakouts, I didn’t want to touch a moisturizer, because I thought it would make it worse. Turns out, it has quite the opposite effect! When my breakouts were out of control, one would being to heal and another would pop up near the same spot. I have no doubt that it was the acne bacteria spreading its love alllll over my face. Personally, I feel that Palmarosa is key in fighting this type of acne, as its job is to literally prevent that from happening. It also reduces inflammation and redness, which I desperately need. My pale skin does not hide any redness or scarring! I use my Palmarosa moisturizer every other night, but daily as a spot treatment. A little goes a LONG way with this product, as it is oil based. Also for this reason, I recommend using it only at night. You can for sure use it during the day, but I personally don’t like wearing it under makeup.

Do you use Palmarosa in your life? What is your favorite way to use it? Did you know they are currently studying how its use through aroma therapy can help things like depression and even things like anorexia?! If you want to try to diffuse it and see how it helps you, I recommend this oil. Don’t get me wrong - I am very thankful for doctors and western medicine; however, I love learning how I can help myself naturally, sans chemicals or office visits.
