I loved taking photos even before Instagram was even a thing. My sister and I would think of fun poses and different places to take pictures, like it was our job! That being said, every year I try to get professional photos taken of me and Nick, as it literally freezes a moment in time. I just love looking back at images and recalling memories! Want to walk down memory lane? Here was our engagement in 2015, our wedding in 2016, fall in New York in 2017, summer in Mexico in 2018, and now we have Carmel in 2019!
Me: Everlane Cotton Turtleneck (c/o) | Madewell Button Up Jeans | Vince Camuto Over The Knee Boots (old, similar here) | Ilia Lipstick: Rosette
Nick: J . Crew Plaid Flannel Shirt | American Eagle Black Jeans | Taft Boots
Typically I use these professional photos for our Christmas cards. Christmas is drawing near and we had yet to schedule a session, so I was excited when I found Monika Greenaway in the Carmel area. Last month, we went to Carmel-By-The-Sea to work with Hofsas House. It was a whirlwind trip, but we managed to do a lot AND have a mini photo session. Read about what we did + my Carmel Travel Guide here.
Monika Greenaway specializes in weddings and portraits, so I knew she’d be perfect shoot our little family. I shared my vision with her and she brought us to this perfect little woodsy area in Pacific Grove, about 15 minutes from where we were staying in Carmel-By-The-Sea. I love how she was able to capture our personalities, but even more-so impressed, with how well she captured Dino! He’s a good pup, but he looks where he wants to… hah! Did you see the first image where he was giving his pup smolder to the camera?! So good. That image is actually on our Christmas card this year!
Speaking of Christmas cards, we typically use Minted. (Use code SHINE19 for up to 20% off on your holiday cards!) We actually did our wedding invitations from there too! This year I did something different and went with a postcard design! I LOVE how it turned out. Postcards are also cheaper anddd can have use cheaper stamps. Just something to think about, if you are trying to do Christmas cards on a budget. I think my favorite part though is the holiday bear stamps we got! I love that Minted lets you customize even their current designs! The stamps say Be Merry, but I changed them to say Beary Merry, and they are perfection!
ALSO Minted has a new feature where you can text them the image you want to use and they will pick five designs they think would work well within your specifications. I know that choosing a card design can be overwhelming and time consuming, so this is a great way to get some of your time back and receive some design advice. Just text your photo to 415-915-2273 to get started!
I know it may seem kind of early to send Christmas cards out. I mean before Thanksgiving is kind of crazy, buuut since we moved to LA, we wanted to get ours out a bit early. Even with a forwarded address, you’d be surprised how much mail we have missed. We have a neighbor in Texas who can catch some things for us, but I’d imagine that a lot of things still are not being forwarded. We are getting our cards out now in hopes to share our new address with friends and family, so they can update their Christmas card listings and addresses!
