I wouldn’t say I’m a trend follower… I’m more of a trend noticer. It’s literally my job ;) Often times I will take year or two to decide or not if I like a trend. Other times I just never really stopped wearing the item the last time they came in style. (lol) Puff sleeves are one of the latter for me. I’ve had this dress for 10 years and it is always a good idea. This balloon style sleeve is also trending right now. I will say that I’m not a huge fan of balloon style sleeve sweaters, but I don’t mind them in dresses. I recently wore this one and LOVE IT. My favorite top right now is actually a puff sleeve style and I can’t get enough of it. Buuuut my favorite puff sleeve as of this second? This green dress. If it looks familiar, it is because I shared it about a month ago here. Guess what? It’s currently on major sale right now too!
Reformation Marcy Dress | Quilted Mules | Uncommon James Earrings | Senreve Coda Belt Bag with Chain (cheaper chain here, use code ELLEMULENOS for $50 off your Senreve purchase of $300 or more.)
I know I keep styling this dress with white (paired it with sneakers there), but it also goes will really well with black (paired it with otk boots here) and brown. Regardless of the color of the clothing, the puff sleeve style is great dressed up with heels or dressed down with sneakers. That is one of the reasons I love the over-the-top shoulders - it is automatically dressy even if it is just a t-shirt. Not to mention that it is super flattering!
If this dress isn’t really your style, there are TONS of ways to incorporate the puff sleeve this season. From t-shirts to jackets, there’s something for everyone. I rounded up some of my favorites here. Just click on the image to be taken to the direct link. Bonus: A lot of them are on sale right now too!
If you prefer to scroll, I linked everything above + some more styles to choose from. There are tons of different price-points and silhouettes to choose from.
Side note - I took these phots at Nobu Miami last month. It worked so well as resort style, but will pair well into the holiday season too. See my Miami Travel Guide here.
Do you like the puff shoulder trend? Have you been sporting it regardless like me? What’s your favorite way? do tell? I’m excited to style this more come spring, especially with jeans and and t-shirt vibes.
P.S. I feel like this post is pretty shallow compared to my regular lifestyle content; however, Wednesday I’m talking about hormones, so come back then if you want more than surface-level conversation;) See you then!
