15 Ways to Eat your Way to Glowing Skin

I have been compensated by Sundown Naturals® and Pollinate Media Group for this post as part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® and Sundown Naturals® but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #GoodnessGiveaway #sharethegoodness http://my-disclosur.es/OBstV

I turned 25 this August and it seemed like that’s when I started to “feel old” – I literally woke up with my back hurting, on my birthday! While I generally take good care of myself, from working out, to personal hygiene, I hadn’t really given much thought to my skincare, other than to wash my face and get most of my mascara off. It was this year that I realized that I need to do more than that…I mean after all, skin is your largest organ! You only get one “set”, so you need to do your best to treat it with respect. Did you know that you could help yourself out, just by what you put in your mouth? Here’s a list of 15 things you can consume, to keep that face of yours glowing like an angel!

15.  Chickpeas. They are full of protein and fiber, which means they slow down digestion. These types of foods are low-glycemic, which reduce pimples and red bumps, yielding clear skin!

14. Tomatoes. They have the antioxidant lycopene, which aids in naturally increasing the skin’s SPF. This will not take the place of actual sunscreen, but will help you out!

13. Dark Chocolate. It has high flavanol levels, which helps hydrate skin and increase circulation, thus reducing dryness and scaliness. Do you really have to have an excuse to consume dark chocolate though? ;)

12.  Oatmeal. It increases your body’s production of androgens, which help secrete natural oils that usually get trapped under your skin, causing pimples, stopping them before they even occur! If you’re like me and don’t like oatmeal, try throwing it in your pancake mix or cookie batter!

11.  Green Tea. It has polyphenols, which help keep your skin smooth and elastic. It also increases blood flow and oxygen to the skin, which ensures your epidermis is getting all the nutrients it needs.

10.  Kale. Filled with lutein and zeaxanthin, these neutralize free radicals caused by UV light. Kale is also filled with vitamins A and C, which help firm your skin. Kale yeah!

9. Grass Fed Beef. With nearly 30 grams of protein per ounce, it will keep you full and firm. Protein is the base of collagen and elasten tissue, which keeps skin less wrinkly.

8. Rosemary. Fresh herbs, like rosemary, are filled with antioxidants, which help prevent your skin from getting sun damage, similar to what kale does.

7. Coffee. Also filled with antioxidents, this can help prevent melanoma from occurring, so grab your morning cup o’ joe!

6.  Kiwi. One kiwi has more than enough Vitamin C for your daily dosage. Vitamin C is associated with moisture rich skin, which is known to help prevent wrinkles.

5.  Eggs. Eat these as a way to get your protein, but not a lot of fat. Eggs are an easy way to have the best of both worlds. Diets high in fat, incur more aging properties, so keep the fat intake low and those eggs coming!

4.  Pumpkin. Filled with beta-carotene, which converts to vitamin A, pumpkin spice lovers can rejoice. Vitamin A is the responsible for cell growth, which is vital to your skin’s needs and regeneration.

3. Red Wine. Full of resveratrol, it’s known to have tumor reducing properties and aid in faster healing of sun caused burns and lesions.

2. Water. Obviously, it keeps you hydrated, but it also helps you avoid other drinks that are filled with sugars. When your blood sugar is high, sugar can and will attach to proteins, which causes your skin to sag and wrinkle.
