My diaper bag looks a little different now twins at 2.5 years old than it did with twins at 6 months old. Diapers have turned into back-up underwear and the formula can that used to jangle around in there have morphed into dinosaurs and diggers. One thing that is a constant in our now toddler bag is making sure that Active Skin Repair is present.

Active Skin Repair Spray | Active Skin Repair Hydrogel

I first learned about Active Skin Repair when I created user generated content (UGC) for them over a year ago. If you see me in some ads for them, yes I’m aware of them (no stolen content here!) and YES I love the product. I actually had the product shipped to my parents’ house for that collaboration, because I was visiting my family and would be able to get the work done while in town. As part of a thank you to my mom for watching the twins for me while I was working, I left a bottle of Active Skin Repair with her. She was kind of confused and asked what it was, etc but nevertheless said thank you. I went back to LA and thought nothing of it. A couple weeks later she called me and started telling me how much she LOVED the product. All that to say, it is one of those things that before you try it you say “oh that sounds cool,” but it doesn’t seem life changing. Once you start using it, it’s kind of a “where has this been all my life” moment, especially when using it with kids!!

So what is Active Skin Repair and what makes it so great?

Think of it as an easy solution for everyday skin damage. This means it is a great option for minor wounds, cuts, scrapes, sunburns, normal burns, insect bites, eczema, athlete’s foot, and more. The best part? It’s just a simple spray - no greasy ointment or residue. When I look at the ingredient list, it is almost too good to be true. Don’t worry, it’s not too good to be true, but yes, the label is THAT understandable. The active ingredient Hypochlorous Acid (HOCl) 0.012%. It’s coupled with Electrolyzed Water (H2O), Sodium Chloride (NaCl), Phosphates… that’s it!

How does it even work??

Hypochlorous acid is truly the hero ingredient! HOCl is something our body produces naturally. Our white blood cells create HOCl to target foreign bacteria and promote healing during sickness, infection, or inflammation. Thanks to science and its ability to replicate and stabilize the hypochlorous molecule, Spraying Active Skin Repair on these areas, gets HOCl to the areas that much faster, encouraging faster healing.

Hypochlorous acid is a natural antimicrobial that stops 99% of bacterial, fungal, and microbial microorganisms within 15 seconds. While this is impressive already, what’s even better is that it doesn’t strip your body of the good, only the bad!

What makes Active Skin Repair different?

First of all, Active Skin Repair’s HOCl is made using the same proprietary formulation that is used in hospitals world-wide!  It is safe enough to use around your eyes, nose, ears, and mouth (I use it on occasional acne so this is important to me) and also okay for open skin - something that other HOCl formulations cannot tout. As you can tell from the all-natural  ingredient list, it’s a simple formulation that is non-toxic. In fact, there are no known allergic reactions to it! This may not seem like a big deal, but did you know you can have an allergic reaction literally pop up overnight (usually contact dermatitis) in response to common cuts and scrapes treatment? This is something I only recently became aware of, which is mind boggling to me.  It’s also vegan and cruelty-free. I’m telling you, it checks all the boxes!

What is their product offering?

They offer Active Skin Repair, Active Skin Repair Kids, and Active Skin Repair Baby in liquid sprays. These are actually all the same solution, just labeled differently. I know, slightly confusing, but people had a lot of questions, so they found that labeling the bottles like this made it easier at the consumer level and combatted the questions. If anything, the labels just remind you what you can use it on. Did you know you can spray it directly on baby’s diaper rash or yeast infection?! Just let it sit for 15 seconds, then go in with whatever balm you’d like to put on top of it and you’re good.

If you miss the ointment feel of your childhood, don’t worry, they have a hydrogel too. It comes in a twist-top squirt bottle and in a spray bottle if you prefer a mess-free” method. Though, I promise even the gel doesn’t feel messy. It is more like a water gel, than a greasy ointment, you’re probably used to. The best way to describe is that your skin just soaks it up, almost immediately.

All of the above are HSA and FSA eligible, except their Active Skin Repair Hydrating Serum, which is considered facial skincare. I’ve never tried it, but the hydrating properties sound amazing! Side note - you can in fact use the regular active skin repair as a toner!! Get a little bang for your buck with that skincare option.

My favorite thing about Active Skin Repair!!

Do you remember putting things on your cuts and scrapes or rather a caregiver putting something on your wounds that hurt and stung? Active Skin Repair is non- sensitizing, meaning there is no sting upon use. My kids actually like it when I spray it and LAUGH when I do. Even if they are mid-cry from a scrape or fall, Active Skin Repair not only helps their body, but their mind and spirit too. I obviously like using it as an adult, but as I mentioned above, my kids not only tolerate my use of Active Skin Repair on it, they request it. Sometimes it just takes a spritz on a pretend boo-boo to turn their day around.

To top it off, Active Skin Repair is made in the United States of America, is climate neutral, and net zero plastic waste certified. They give back 1% of all sales (not just profits) to environmental non-profits. Active Skin Repair also has a 24 month shelf life, so you are able to truly use the entire bottle and not let any go to waste.

Give it a try and let me know what you think! Don’t forget, you can use discount code ELLEMULENOS for 20% off your Active Skin Repair order. Below is a YouTube video, if you’d like to listen in addition to or instead of reading this post. I hope it helps!
