I was shopping online (my preferred way to shop) for some items for our upcoming Mexico trip and stumbled upon this dress and was yep! Done deal. Gotta have it. I was originally going to just shoot it for you in Mexico, but when it came in, it was even better than I imagined and I decided to shoot it asap for an Art of Versatility post. Side note, I’ve been pretty good about scheduling my blog posts a month and a halfish in advance, but I always try to leave a little wiggle room in case inspiration strikes and I want to write about something right this very minute. This dress was one of those things I never intended but knew I had to share.

Ever since I started digging deeper into travel, beauty and life hacks, fashion has seemed so empty to write about. I still love it. My roots will forever be in it; however, I love to write about things with meaning like more eco-friendly fashion, nontoxic products and even real life issues like hemorrhoids. Ha! They take me a lot longer to write, but I love it. I mean to be a blogger, you have to love it, because it takes a lot more work than you think. I digress…back to this beautiful dress.
What drew me to this piece is that the florals are on black instead of brighter hues. I’ve always loved darker florals. They seem a bit fancier, more unique and of course more versatile! These can 100% be worn in the spring or summer, but you can honestly wear them in the fall and even winter too. Pop the yellows in the fall or better yet, go black on black. Come winter, add a red lip and you’ve got Christmas down pat. Maybe Christmas in Hawaii ;) but Christmas none the less!
Today I’m styling the dress for you 3 ways, but much like the Sonic HH menu, I see endless ways to wear it!
Up first, i’m wearing it probably how I’lll don it in Mexico…simple gold jewelry with some tan flat sandals. You can obviously wear it with black flat sandals too, but I really like how the caramel tones complement the pattern.
Second is more of your “I have to walk around all day but still want to look cute look.” I think it is so fun sporting the white sneaker trend and the denim jacket dresses it down as well. I also have a black denim jacket I’d love to sport with it too!

Last but not least is a biker chic feel. This is your fall transition look! Leather jacket with booties? I meannnn yes please.
Which is your favorite? Honestly, I love them all. I can’t wait to wear this with my brown wedges or even my favorite black heeled sandals. I also think it would look great with my red paisley silk scarf. (Yellow would look good too!) Can’t beat a bit of color popping and pattern mixing!
If you were going to buy one summer dress, this is the one I would purchase, because it is pretty much seasonless, the length is appropriate for anywhere, and it can be layered and styled many, many ways. I’d say this dress kind of runs big, so if you are in-between sizes, I’d size down. I’m wearing a 4 and it is kind of loose, but I like the fit. It feels summery and loose in a good way. Perfect for slightly sunburned shoulders and braless evenings. I love it as a wrap dress, but it also comes in cami dress version too. Pick your fave. You can’t go wrong either way!! Hope you have lots of reasons to wear pretty dresses this summer ;)
