I know the blazer is a classic piece, but the long-line, slightly oversized version of is has been trending as of late. I’m not sure why, but I have been resisting it. I had a couple blazers that I wore maybe 5 years ago, but they were pretty business-like and not something I’d really want to wear out except to work. This summer, I decided to go ahead and try one out to see if I liked it. Plus, I received some birthday money, so I thought why not? When I’m not spending someone else’s money, I like to try and choose items I wouldn’t normally pick for myself. Blazers were that for me! It wasn’t a 100% out of the blue pick for me though, it is pretty much a structured version of long cardigans, which I love. And of course, it is perfect for Women in the Workplace Wednesday ;)

I am usually 100% an online shopper. Shopping in store usually lets me down, as I’m like HERE TAKE MY MONEY and literally no one lines up for it. Whether the sales reps are weird or the product isn’t good, typically leave feeling depleted. At least with online shopping, I’m not wasting as much time? Needless to say, I shopped for this blazer in store. I wanted to try it on before buying it, as I still wasn’t 100% sure if I liked the idea or not. To be completely honest, I went in wanting the brown version of this blazer, but they were sold out and the black is just as good andddd probably goes with more things anyway. I originally tried on the S, but felt it was too baggy. I wanted to try the XS, but all they had left was the XXS. Typically I can barely cram into an XS, so the fact that I ended up buying an XXS is kind of crazy. It is 100% oversized and mostly in the waist… but like #why ? Who wants extra fabric there?! You can still get a good oversized fit and not drown in fabric. I digress. Anyway, the XXS is a little snug in the shoulders, but it’s doable and I can still layer a thin sweater under it. I will say that I do have pretty narrow shoulders for my frame though, so keep that in mind! I would say go down a size at the very least. Though it is a little odd sizing wise, I really love the quality of it. Additionally I preferred the double breasted front and of course real pockets. I did find a couple others prior to buying this one, but they weren’t that much cheaper and the style or quality weren’t really there. Another one I would consider buying though is this Everlane blazer I love their brand and mission!
Okay so now to the styling. I really wanted to share this post, because when I first got it, I myself was like OMG it’s cute, but how do I even style it? Up first, we have a business casual look. Dark jeans give an automatic nicer look, plus pairing it with a nice button down is a win. You can easily remove the blazer and still have a bomb outfit. I could have easily worn taller boots with this look, but since ankle boots are all the rage, I went with them. See how I styled ankle boots 3 ways here!
Second we have a true office look. I styled it with my favorite jumpsuit, but it would look great with a little black dress too! As we head into fall, it’s all about layering. Cooler mornings, warmer afternoons, you get the picture. I love layering a blazer with a camisole, but I would never just wear a cami to work, so I like pairing it with sleeves, so I can remove it easily if I get a little warm. Regarding my shoe choice, I paired it with a sandal, as it’s still a little toasty, but this could easily been styled with a bootie!

Last but not least, is a fun, going out kind of look. I dressed down the blazer with some cut off shorts, but then dressed it up again, with some otk boots! It’s fun and kind of rocky. I’ve been trying to push myself out of my fashion comfort zone as of late, and this look checks that box! I also shot this blazer for Style for Every Body this week, set to post in November, and I wore a band tee and sneakers. Another no-so-normal of a look for me!
