Morning, y’all! Well…I say morning, but who knows when you’ll read this! This morning I did 4:30 am Orange Theory, so I am WIDE AWAKE. It sounds crazy (and it kind of is), but I’ve never felt so good and awake for work.
Anyway, I promised that I started doing my The Art of Versatility posts more often and I am D E L I V E R I N G. I wanted to style this velvet skirt for y’all for a lot of reasons.
1) Velvet is classic. I have a black velvet dress legit from 10+ years ago that I still wear because it’s so classic. This pencil skirt isn’t going out of style.
2) It’s perfect for the holidays. Great for Christmas because you can make it glitzy and glam, but even better for all winter.
3) BECAUSE IT’S VERSATILE. Didn’t see that one coming did ya? ;) It’s easy to go all out with velvet and dress it way up, but I wanted to show you that you don’t have to be all glamorous all the time time. Wear it to work or your NYE party. You choose!
Side note, the description says to size down…I’m wearing a S. I’m usually in-between a S and a M depending how stretchy the fabric is. The small is perfect for me! PTL for elastic waistbands ;)
Okay so first up I styled it sporty and it juuuust might be my favorite. Paired with a sweater and some sneakers, this is a functional chic look. Personally the beanie is probably my favorite touch.

Below we have a chic, more edgy style of the skirt. I paired it with one of my favorite t-shirts. (I’ve talked about them a lot. They are super budget friendly and soft, but wear like a $20 t-shirt. I don’t mind the faster pilling though because a t-shirt is usually something that has a pretty high turnover. But seriously this brand of tees is what I’m always reaching for!! Their terry ones are my favorite.) I dressed up the tee look by adding a silk scarf, some red lips and a funky wedge. #yesplease

Last but not least was my more formal approach. Black on black on black with a leopard scarf and some red lip! You can 100% make this more formal though, so don’t let that stop you. Maybe pair it with some sequins?! You can’t go wrong.

Like I mentioned, I picked this skirt to style, because I truly believe that it’s a great holiday staple! This piece is under $100 and truly can be worn to any event, even if that “event” is just walking to your desk. Also if you want to really go all out, try getting a fun bodysuit!! I did that for a Christmas party 2 years ago and got SO many compliments. Happy styling, y’all!
