I feel like this is the lightest birthday post I’ve ever written. Every other birthday post I’ve written has had some deep thoughts or something big happening. 24 I launched a new website, 25 I changed from Southern Elle Style to LMents of Style, 26 was hard, 27 a bright light. Anyway, today I turn 28!

Last year I deemed 27 to be my “golden birthday” mainly because I can’t remember my own golden birthday as a 3 year old anddd because I had a really good feeling about the upcoming year. 27 was great. It was weird at times, but overall was wonderful. 23 was a great year for me and I now classify 27 along with it. I have good feelings about 28 too though! As much as I don’t like “adulting” and some of the hardships that come with it, I truly do feel like a fine wine that is getting better with age. Don’t hear me wrong. There were some lows during 27, even as of late! But I don’t know. This year just seemed different! It was a good one.

If you subscribe to my LMents of Style Lately, weekly newsletter, then you already know this, but I feel kind of funny! (You can subscribe here) Like I’m kind of floating in this weird spot. I’m no longer in my early 20s, but I haven’t hit my 30s yet either. I can tell you what my perfect day would look like, but I can’t tell you where I see myself in 5 years or what I want most out of life. It’s like a wild card, which is kind of scary and kind of fun! It may not be an age thing though, as Nick turns 30 this year and he feels similar to how I feel! I digress…

I usually divulge a little information about my year, but I’m not going to do that this time. Just know I switched up my jobs, my medication, and my style and I feel better for it. You have to be your own advocate and do what makes you joyful. It’s so much more than happiness.

Today I’m starting my birthday out at CorePower, then headed to get a massage. Nick is taking me to see the Dior exhibit at the DMA and I couldn’t be more excited. It’s only here for another month, so take a look before it is gone. You should definitely buy tickets in advance though, as they are selling out before the day even begins. After that, we are headed to California for a work trip, but not without fun! I think we are going to spend Sunday in Napa and then the rest of the week I get to meet with brands I (and you!) love! I’m sure I’ll share some live-time bits, so get ready!

Cheers to 28! I’m excited to take on this year with you. Thanks so much for following along and caring about my corner of the internet!! I’m so grateful.

Side note - I was always disappointed with my birthday when I was in school, as it was right before school began again, so people were either out of town or had to do school prep. Plus, I never got to bring cupcakes to share with the class! Nowadays, I like my birthday placement…for more reasons than one. Yes it is summer, but what is summer break anyway?! It is easier to take a vacation now too! Mostly I like it, because it is a little over halfway into the year and is a great time to check in with my new year’s resolutions and figure out what goals I want to meet before the year is over. How are yours coming? Know it is never too late to start over! This was my 2019 word of the year, just for reference!

P.S. If you need some last minute summer vacation inspo, last year for my birthday Nick took me to Mukan Resort, south of Tulum and it was amazing. We highly recommend it!
