New year, new color! Every late fall, Pantone releases their color for the following year. For 2022 they deemed it Very Peri (PANTONE 17-3938), a blue-ish violet-like hue that “displays a spritely, joyous attitude and dynamic presence that encourages courageous creativity and imaginative expressions” per Leatrice Eisman, the Executive Director of Pantone Color Institute.

I don’t always love the color, but somehow I usually feel like it fits the year. Last year (2021) was ultimate gray and illuminating yellow and I think it was perfect. It was kind of a weird year with high highs and low lows. I do love that it was a 2 color year and I had two babies… very fitting! Perhaps I need to order them some swatches for their baby books!

I adore the color periwinkle, so I was really happy with Pantone’s pick this year. Hopefully it is once again fitting! My mom’s favorite color is blue. While she doesn’t discriminate which hue of blue, periwinkle is in fact one of her favorites. My sister is also getting married this year, so I find the blue fitting in a “something blue” kind of way.
I made a little round up for you of some fun and inspirational peri pieces for you. Don’t forget you can incorporate the color of the year in more way that just clothes!
To make the new year post a little more than just surface level content, I typically include my word for the year. It’s not groundbreaking, but I like to choose something to set my mantra for the next 365 days. For 2022, my word is OPEN. I’m going to be open to new experiences and new mindsets. This year will bring a lot of changes, being a parent to twins for one! I was sick for most of my pregnancy, so that already forced me to slow down. I learned that my plan was to “not have a plan”. While I don’t believe in going aimlessly into the future, there is something to be said about being open to possibilities. You could say Cyprus and Olive taught me that ;)
Here’s to the new year! I’m excited and a little scared for what this year has in store. Cheers!
