You know that place where everyone knows your name and you know it’s good because the locals go there? That’s Little River Inn.
Little River Inn is located in Mendocino, right off of Highway 1, with a beautiful scenic view of the Pacific Ocean. It’s been welcoming the people of Mendocino, and travelers alike, for over 75 years! As picturesque as it is, coupled with its charm and amenities, I can see why.
Nick and I spent Saturday exploring Mendocino and the surrounding cities (will share my full trip travel guide later!) before arriving at Little River Inn to check in. Once we got our key, we went to our room -checked out the amazing patio (see above!!), settled in, and accidentally fell asleep for 3 hours. I didn’t think we were that tired, so I’m going to blame it on the coziness of Little River Inn;)
After I scraped my contacts from my eyes and put on glasses, we skipped over to the Main Dining Room to have some dinner. First we stopped at Ole’s Whale Watch Bar, which is the entrance to the dining area. You can order food there too! Once we got to our table, we ordered bacon sliders which are NOT mini hamburgers, but something better…essentially a mini thick cut bacon open-faced sandwich! Nick ordered the roast and I had a pasta dish-both very good and hearty, BUT what stole the show in my opinion was dessert. They have olallieberry cobbler, which is DIVINE. Side note- an olallieberry is a blackberry that is a cross between the black logan berry and the younger berry. We had it multiple times during our stay because I could not get it out of my head!!
After sleeping through the night thanks to my olallieberry dreams, we woke up early, ordered room service for breakfast and headed off to hike. For lunch we came back to Ole’s Whale Watch Bar, where I had the salmon Caesar salad and Nick had the burger. Don’t worry, we didn’t forget the cobbler, though when the waiter asked, Nick replied “no” to dessert and I said “yes”. Guess who won that decision ;) I also had the yummiest cocktail there too! It was called the Drake and just so happened to be the cocktail of the day. Made with earl grey tea and lavender syrup, it was so freaking good and refreshing!
Little River doesn’t just have good views and a nice restaurant. They actually have a lot more to offer! They have a spa (they sell and use Juice Beauty there, which you know I love!), a golf course, tennis courts, oh and they’re pet friendly too! My favorite amenity was the fire place. They actually had fire wood on the patio and you could make your own fire right there in your room!! It was perfect for the weather, but also for a romantic evening ;) On our last night there, we enjoyed a fire and the yummiest petite sirah from right in Mendocino, compliments of the inn! I just can’t get over the good food, wine, and hospitality that Little River Inn had to offer. Our room was a wonderful size, but they actually have bigger units that are perfect for families too! Little River Inn is a place for everyone!! A wonderful place to see, but an even better place to lower your cortisol levels!!
