It already feels like ages ago, but last weekend Nick and I ventured to Montana to have a friendship filled weekend with some of our nearest and dearest. We arrived a day earlier than everyone else and therefore got to explore a little more. Once everyone else arrived, we headed into Whitefish, so we took the extra time prior to trek into Kalispell and see more of what the chilly city had to offer.

When we arrived, I was instantly impressed by the amount of snow that had accumulated and how little the city seemed to care. It is the norm there after all... I witnessed quite a big snow in Seattle during Christmas last year and the previous Thanksgiving. I found myself in the prettiest snowfall in Tahoe, but never have I ever seen as much as I did in Montana! I have only visited Montana once and it was in Helena, during the summer. Not much to compare it to.

Y'all know that I love to find fun and unique places to stay, so when I started researching where to stay in Kalispell, I was instantly attracted to Coyote Bluff Estate. I looked through all the photos and everything, but nothing could have prepared me for what Coyote Bluff was actually like. To cut to the chase, I give it a 10/10 and want to go back in the summer so I can experience both seasons! To learn more about the stay, keep reading!

We left Glacier Park International Airport around 9:30 pm local time. Side note- I was SO glad we got an all wheel drive car! For sure worth the extra money during the winter months. Coyote Bluff is about 30ish minutes from the airport (it is technically in Somers, not Kalispell), so we enjoyed a beautiful moonlit drive to the residence. While we would have loved to experience the splendor of nature on the way in, it just made it that much more beautiful to wake up to it! More on that in a second...

To get to Coyote Bluff, you have to kind of go up a mountain. Be sure to follow their instructions exactly if it is snowy, because some roads are plowed and some aren't. When we arrived at the top, we found a storybook like scenario with the most beautiful log cabin, all lit up and reflecting off the snow. So we drive up and Rita, one of the owners, greets us at the front door. We walked in and almost immediately, a wave of banana bread hit us in the face and we start to regret our decision of airport fast food. We removed our shoes (if any wetness, rocks, etc are present, it could ruin all of the wood), put on the slippers they gave us, and felt right at home. Rita showed us to our room - we had the Alyssa Rose Queen Suite and then invited us downstairs for some wine and cheese by the fire, while she was finishing up banana bread for the morning. We waited until we were fat and happy, then headed up to bed, showered, USED OUR TOWEL WARMER, and went to sleep.

The next morning, we woke up in Narnia, no joke. There was even more snow and the world was bright and fresh. We had coffee and tea waiting by the door, along with that yummy banana bread we had smelled the night before. It was DIVINE. And it doesn't stop there! Coyote Bluff Estate is an actual bed and breakfast, so we actually had a sit down meal that morning as well! Rita made us wonderful breakfast including a frittata, hashbrowns, english muffins, a fruit parfait, and crepes! Another cool thing is that there are only 3 rooms available, so you get to really know the other guests staying there. The other guests were from the UK and so interesting to talk to. It made for a great morning!

Coyote Bluff Estate was once a private home that the Bahme's purchased in 2014 from an "off the grid" type of guy who was also a trophy hunter. The game used as decoration are actually the previous owners! It took him over 5 years to build the home and you can definitely see why. Yes in the photos, but even more-so in person. After buying, the current owners were interested in seeing if people would even want to stay there, so they tried it out in 2016 and have been busy with guests ever since! This is not a hotel and for sure not the average experience when it comes to travel. If you are looking for ambience and a place you'll talk about for years to come, this is your lodging! As a millennial, I love showing places like Coyote Bluff, because I feel like that's what people are looking for...they want experiences over "things". Staying at Coyote Bluff is an experience within itself, but they can also arrange things like fishing outings, going golfing, private charters, and local attractions. At the very least, you can sit back and enjoy the best view of Flathead Lake from right on the property. If the place wasn't stunning enough, Rita's hospitality shone more. You truly feel at home and that's something money can't buy. Nick and I highly recommend staying here!
