I didnā€™t grow up with the holiday pajama gift on Christmas Eve or matching jammies with everyone, but over the past couple of years, it has been a fun thing for me and my sister to do for the blog. I look forward to our photoshoot every year! (see year one, year two, and year three) This will be our fourth year to do it, but our first year to do it in a state other than Texas. My parents and sister were in California for Thanksgiving, so I took advantage of her being in town and snapped some pics!

Thereā€™s a super cute Christmas cat sweatshirt that is calling to me, but I keep putting off buying it, because Iā€™m like 1) do I actually need it (NO) and 2) can I wear it year-round? While the answer to the second one is actually yes and no (hah!), The point is that I have been trying to be more mindful with my purchases, Christmas pajamas included. People are all up in arms about plastic straws and animal rights, but continue to buy clothes, wear them once, never to be seen again. Definitely something that needs to be addressed.

I am in no way trying to squash your Christmas pajamas fun, but I am offering a way to be more mindful about it this time of year! Here are 3 things to think about when shopping for them this holiday season:

1) Buy non-holiday colors. I tried to do this in our first pajama look! My ensemble includes blues and my sisterā€™s is more neutral. Either way, they donā€™t scream holiday, but fit in just fine with the season.

2) Buy transitional clothing. Meaning, purchase items that can be worn on the street and in the bedroom. I thought the scarves and beanies made it look Christmasy, but 100% are items that Iā€™d wear again both at home and out and about town. My sweater, biker shorts, and sherpa jacket are great examples too. Emmaā€™s night gown may not be something sheā€™d wear outside, but it is a pajama that sheā€™d wear no matter the season! One of my favorite holiday items to buy are socks, because they are cute, inexpensive and 100% can be worn even if it isnā€™t the holidays. I mean who cares if you wear gingerbread man socks in February? Hah!I just bought this Chirstmas cat socks and LOVE them.

3) Pair within your current closet. If you do want to buy something trendy and holiday-esque, maybe try buying one thing and matching it with something in your closet. Emmaā€™s sherpa shorts are a great example of this. Maybe not something she would get a ton of wear out of, but they can pair with basics she already has in her closet.

Which was your favorite look? I loved this blue sweater, but this sherpa jacket is AMAZING. Youā€™ve seen me wear it here and here. And you know how I feel about biker shorts!! Anyway, as you know, today is Cyber Monday, so you should be able to get some good dealsā€¦on holiday jammies and more! Check out my Black Friday sales that slid into Cyber Monday here!
