Well, well, well. I’m currently stuffed, because I’ve been over here, eating my words! Back in September, I shared Nontoxic Makeup made without Coconut Oil. I mentioned that my favorite lipstick had coconut oil, but I didn’t wear it that often, so I didn’t think it would be a big deal. Normally correct, but during the holiday season I was wearing a lippie 3-4 times a week for parties and such. Mid December, I noticed an odd breakout on both sides of my mouth, where smile lines are. The only thing I could think of was my lipstick! I stopped wearing it and the breakout went away a week or two later. Sooo that brings us to now… cruelty-free and nontoxic lipsticks made without coconut oil!

I began researching natural lipsticks that don’t contain coconut oil which is actually pretty hard, due to the fact that coconut oil goes by so many names and it is moisturizing. (I went over that here) I ended up going with Ilia Color Block High Impact Lipstick. I got it in Rosette (nudey pink) and Rumba (dark red) and L O V E them. Their colors are beautiful and they get really good wearability, especially for an actually lipstick, not stain or liquid lip. I wore mine out on a date Friday and it didn’t even come off on my glass! #thatgood

I truly love the Ilia lipstick I have AND it comes in tons of colors, but I also wanted to give y’all some options and some chapstick options! Here’s a little round-up of great cruelty-free and nontoxic spectrum lippies!

LIPSTICKS

TINTS AND STAINS

LIPGLOSS

MULTI USE STICKS

CHAPSTICKS

Side note- I’ve gotten a lot of questions about why I don’t use coconut oil and if its bad. I covered that in this post, but basically the short story is that it cause a ton of clogged pores and breakouts on my skin. There isn’t anything toxic about it. If you like it, use it! I wish I could. I would make my life easier - especially shopping for a nontoxic shampoo!

Do you have a favorite nontoxic lipstick that doesn’t have coconut oil in it? Let me know so I can try it out!
