You made it to Friday! I'm sure you're ready to grab a drink. Whether it's the new cranberry sprite (sounds so good!) or a cocktail, CHEERS!
It wasn't until recently that I discovered my signature cocktail. In fact, I was always nervous to order cocktails, because what if I didn't like it?! After attending a couple Cointreau events, I finally realized that my go-to drink was a Cointreau margarita! They are super easy and super fresh. They don't have many ingredients and aren't too sweet like most cocktails out there.
When I make myself a Cointreau marg, I use their traditional recipe of 1 part Cointreau, 1 part FRESH lime juice, and 2 parts tequila, but I add in a handful of jalapeƱo, and call it a day. Since December is now upon us, I thought it would be fun to share some holiday cocktail recipes. So, here are 2 spins on a Cointreau margarita that make them Christmasy and on point for your next party.

SAVORY COCKTAIL
Rosemary-Sage Margarita (1 serving)
-1 TBS chopped sage and rosemary
-1 oz Cointreau
-1 oz fresh lime juice
-2 oz tequila
-herbs for garnish
-ice
-optional: lime slices
Directions: Chop and combine fresh herbs. Place them in the shaker and muddle until the aroma hits your nose. Add in cointreau, lime juice and tequila. Scoop ice into shaker and place lid on tightly. Shake until you feel the freeze on your hands. Fill margarita glass with ice and take the lid off to pour into the container. Garnish as you wish!
Note: any herbs can be used, in fact basil makes a great cocktail as well. For a strong drink use 2 oz of tequila as listed. To water it down either use only 1 oz or use 2 oz of lime juice with the normal tequila amount.

SWEET COCKTAIL
Cranberry-JalapeƱo Margarita (1 serving)
-1 TBS sugared cranberries
-1 TBS chopped jalapeƱo
-1 oz Cointreau
-1 oz fresh cranberry juice or cocktail
-2 oz tequila
-ice
-optional: lime slices
Directions: Sprinkle a pinch of sugar on the cranberries and let sit. Chop the jalapeƱo. Place them in the shaker and muddle until the aroma hits your nose. Add in cointreau, cranberry juice and tequila. Scoop ice into shaker and place lid on tightly. Shake until you feel the freeze on your hands. Fill margarita glass with ice and take the lid off to pour into the container. Garnish as you wish!
Note: I used cranberry juice, but lime would still taste good here! I like my margs really spicy, so I often leave the seeds in my jalapeƱos, but de-seed yours otherwise. Add in as little or as much jalapeƱo as your tastebuds desire. Bonus points if you use jalapeƱo juice!
Are you a sweet or a savory drinker? Do you have a favorite margarita recipe? Lay it on me! Unless you're going to tell me it is made in a bucket o' mix. You can keep that to yourself. Hah! Merry, merry! Have a great weekend, y'all.
