And just like that, fall is officially HERE. To be honest, I canāt believe it. I know I probably say something along those lines every year, but with COVID-19, it just hits differently. I posted my spring skincare update right as things were shutting down and here I am posting fall?! It kind of feels like groundhogās dayā¦ it also might have something to do with the fact that we are packing up and moving (LA) apartments and this time last year we were packing up to move to LA. Moving is a beast and I feel like I underestimate it every time; however, because one of the reasons we moved is for air conditioning, my skin is so happy!

Since we last spoke during my summer skincare update, Iād probably say my skin has gotten worse. I think the biggest factor besides hormones has been the heat and therefore sweat. Hopefully our new apartment will help!! The other contributing factors may be stress, horrible air quality due to fires, and of course wearing a face covering / mask. Iāve tried balancing my hormones naturally for over a year now, so will probably begin to seek professional help for that. Weāll see how things shake out!
The good news is that I was finally able to receive a facial this month after not having one since early March!! After a long six months I was finally able to get a chemical peel last week, so hopefully my redness can begin to dissipate. Other things that I think are noteworthy are:
Iām still using a humidifier and still think that it helps tremendously.
Iām still on UC meds. This is good because my inflammation levels are dropping, but they can also cause acneā¦
Iām now on month four of taking a vitex / chaste berry supplement. I took Flo vitamins and then switched to a different brand. I decided I liked Flo better, so am now on my third bottle of Flo, but second consecutive bottle. I plan on taking it at least one more month before stating my opinion / deciding to continue taking it.
I recently started taking maca powder and am hoping that it may help my balance my hormones. I just bought a bag of powder from Whole Foods, but capsules also exist. I enjoy the taste, whereas things like ashwagandha make me gag.
This picture is me saying āI know Iām not supposed to touch my own face, but what if someone elseās hand touches them?! Is that allowed?! Hah! Anyone else struggle with not touching their face during the day, especially during breakouts?
Okay that being said, hereās my current routine! Itās a little switched up, but not by much.
AM ROUTINE
One Love Organics Easy Does It Foaming Cleanser. Been using this for a while! I wash my face when I wake up, both before and after working out.
ICE. I just grab an ice cube from the freezer and continually move it around my face for about 2 minutes, making sure to hit the troublesome spots extra. Donāt leave it on one spot for too long, or it will burn you. I have an ice roller, but use ice cubes to keep it clean and such. (per my esthetician.) I use my cute BKR ice trays!
Ursa Major Golden Hour Recovery Cream. Iāve been using this moisturizer for a couple years now! I use this every other day, opposite of the day I use my peeling lotion listed above.
Sunscreen. I donāt use this if Iām just sitting in my house; however, if I have plans to go outside, it goes on! Hats help too but should not be supplemented instead of sunscreen!
PM ROUTINE
One Love Organics Vitamin B Oil Cleanser. I only do this if I wore makeup or sunscreen that day, otherwise, I just use the foaming cleanser alone vs double cleansing. I also really like the Primally Pure cleansing oil as an option too! Try it for 10% off with discount code ELLEMULENOS.
One Love Organics Easy Does It Foaming Cleanser. Same as AM!
ICE. Same as AM!
Corrective Skincare LA Peeling Lotion. It is an acne medication made of a benzoyl peroxide -like mixture (doesnāt actually include it! that helps with resurfacing. I rub a pea sized amount of all of my face.
***OR***
Corrective Skincare LA Peeling Pads. These are a mixture of Salicylic Acid (2%) and Glycolic Acid (10%) formulated to improve texture, fade discoloration, reduce the appearance of fine lines and help fade scarring caused by acne by promoting skin cell turnover.

Primally Pure Clarifying Serum. I still like Primally Pure CBD Serum, but am currently on a kick with the clarifying. I use my gua sha stone to help it soak in and it is such a treat! Side note - last time my code wasnāt working on the CBD site, but you can totally use ELLEMULENOS for 10% off on either / both products!
EXTRAS:
Primally Pure Baby Balm. I use this as under eye cream! Read my review of it here. Try it for 10% off with discount code ELLEMULENOS.
Primally Pure Palmarosa and Mint Beauty Cream. I love using this on troublesome spots, especially if they are kind of oozy. It helps keep bacteria at bay, all while moisturizing. Read more about it here. Try it for 10% off with discount code ELLEMULENOS.
Facial Tools. I use a gua sha stone and a jade roller. I also use a Nu Derma High Frequency Wand every other night on troublesome spots and about once a week all over my face.
Face masks. I use Primally Pure face masks around once a week. My current favorite is the plumping mask, but I reviewed them all here. Get 10% off with discount code ELLEMULENOS. I also still love the Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel. For a more budget friendly option, I use this one.
Something Iāll definitely keep watch on is my faceās dryness level, especially as transition from fall to winter. The dryness has been really bad for my June - August here in LA, so Iām going to pay more attention this year, since it will be my second year here! Stay beautiful! XOXO
