How to Choose a Hostess Gift

Gift giving is one of my love languages. I adore finding something special for someone! A lot of thought usually goes into my gifts, and hostess gifts shouldn't be any different. If you didn't catch it Friday, my post covered my fiesta themed lingerie shower.
With it being wedding season for me and all, I thought I'd cover how to choose a hostess gift, but really this could be applied to anyone you need to get a gift for. Some are harder to shop for than others, but if you really dig down, I bet you can find something perfect!
Don't buy something that you wouldn't like to receive. Just because it's cheap, doesn't mean it's worth it. I call this my Halloween candy theory. You don't have to buy the king size Snickers bar, but if you do the off-brand jawbreakers, chances are, they are just going to get thrown away, which is a total waste of your money. At least go for the Hershey kisses. They are a classic 9/10 will not end up in the trash! Do you catch my drift?
Do set a budget. If I had oodles of cash, I would seriously choose a person to buy a gift for each day. Buuuut, I don't, and chances aren't you don't either. Set a budget and stick to it, so you don't have to stress. Honestly great things can be found at every price point!
Consider the receiver. How old are they? For a lingerie shower, you can get away with more modern items, but for a bridal shower, its probably better to stick more classic items. Do they drink or no? Alcohol makes for a good gift, but not if they won't drink it!
Play up the theme. A good theme has really good attributes! Part of the reason I wanted a fiesta theme, is because the food is easy and good, plus the decor options are endless! We had margaritas at my shower and both of my hostesses drank, so I went with a margarita theme. Cacti are trending and so cute on the glasses. The lime sea salt is bomb for drinks or even just for some fajita meat. Cayman Jack is an all natural margarita, so it's a healthier version, that is so refreshing.
Be practical. I love finding cute things that are very useful, but something you wouldn't necessarily buy yourself. That's what I consider the glasses I got my girls. You don't want to leave your hostesses saying "okay, well what the heck am I going to do with this"? Whether it's a pretty hand towel or a cute coaster, get something that they will use and think of you when they do!
