Nordstrom Sale 2020: What I'd Re-Buy and What Caught my Eye

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale comes every year, so you’d think I’d be better at promoting it by now. It’s my 5th or 6th sale and it still overwhelms me! That is half the reason I still make a blog post for it… if it overwhelms me as a consumer, so I want to make sure it doesn’t overwhelm YOU as the consumer.
The NSale is a little different this year. Not only did they push they dates due to COVID-19, but they also did an online preview versus a mailed catalog. They also spaced out the sale dates more. I’m used to being able to shop it asap online and this year I have to wait until Monday, August 10th. The sale opens to the public August 19th and the last day to shop it is August 30th.
To start, I’m going to share some staple pieces in my wardrobe that I’d re-buy. I’m also going to share some collages of things I would buy this year, recap the things I’d re-buy, and share with you Nick’s picks. Here is a more comprehensive guide over several different categories if that is what you are looking for.
P.S. I forgot to include the Spanx Faux Leather Leggings in the collage and I’m too tired to add them back. Hah! I go into more detail about them below. I also styled them 3 ways here. I also forgot to include some cardigans, but linked them below!
BASIC CAMISOLE, SUEDE SKIRT, NUDE HEELS
Camisole - White camis are always a good idea!! If you are looking for an option with prints, this one is great. i also like this slouchy version. I wear a S, all under $50.
BlankNYC Suede Skirt - I bought this several years ago as a staple fall piece. In Texas it doesn’t get cold until December and this suede texture helped me dress for the season. I love BlankNYC suede pieces and this is no exception. I wear a size 28 it in this. At the time I purchased it that was my jean size, but I wear a 26 now - I haven’t lost weight, just wasn’t wearing the right size. Anyway, I still like the size 28, so it sits lower on my hips and adds extra length so it isn’t too short.
Vince Nude Heels - I love to buy nude shoes during the Nsale because I wear them so much. I bought these heels last year and they updated the version this year. Here’s a more budget friendly version. I also love these pointed nude flats. If you want my exact style, I found them here. They fit me TTS - I wear an 8.5.
FLARE JEANS
Camisole - White camis are always a good idea!! If you are looking for an option with prints, this one is great. i also like this slouchy version. I wear a S, all under $50.
Frame Le Flare Jeans - I accidentally bought these last year and they were one of my favorite purchases! They were in my fitting room and I tried them on and fell in love. Flares are so good because they are so chic and can easily be dressed up. I wear a 26 in these and that’s what I wear in Madewell for reference.
Vince Nude Heels - I love to buy nude shoes during the Nsale because I wear them so much. I bought these heels last year and they updated the version this year. Here’s a more budget friendly version. I also love these pointed nude flats. If you want my exact style, I found them here. They fit me TTS - I wear an 8.5.
SUEDE AND LEATHER MOTO JACKETS
BlankNYC Suede Moto Jacket - I have 2 of these - one black and one brown. I paid full price for the brown one and would do it again. It is such a good staple. I love throwing it on with a dress when it is cold and it pairs well with jeans all of the time. They also came out with a fringe version in black if that is more your style. I wear a size S and it fits true to size.
Real Leather Jacket - I purchased this after my suede ones and still get lots of wear out of it. Such a good buy! If you don’t prefer the silver metal accents, this one and this one are the same price. If I had to do it again, I’d probably buy this one instead of the black suede one. Fits true to size - wearing a S.

FAUX LEATHER LEGGINGS, OVERSIZED BLAZER
Spanx Faux Leather Leggings - I finally bought these last year and they are great, especially when I want to be comfy and still dress up. I wear a size 6 in Lulu and a size S in most other leggings, but size up to a M in these. I prefer to cover my butt when I wear these, but to each their own.
Plaid Blazer - It took me a while to like blazers again after the whole “school girl” / tiny blazer trend, but I am here for it! Lighter colored blazers are great because they are seasonless. Pair them with a dress or with jeans…or leggings like me ;) I also like this blazer. Wearing a S.

RIB MIDI KNIT DRESS, CARIDGAN
Leith Midi Dress - I bought the rib knit midi dress a couple years ago and it has been one of my most unsuspecting buys. This year’s version is more of a white than a sand coloring like mine, but it is still a great color. It also comes in black this year! Note that I sized up in this and wear a M instead of a S, as I preferred for it to not be as quite of a bodycon ;) It’s a great style that can be worn in the summer, but styled for the winter because of the sweater material. I most recently styled it here at the Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve.
Longline Cardigan - These are such a great basic in the cooler months, but a great layering piece here in Los Angeles year round. I also like this version, this version and this version. Wearing a S.
Emu Australia Slippers - Okay so these aren’t even sold at Nordstrom, but they are one of my staples. Ugg does have a slipper sandal that is similar and part of the sale though.
BIKER SHORTS, SPORTS BRA, LEGGINGS, VEJA SNEAKERS
Sports Bra - A good black sports bra is always a good idea. I like the little cuts on the straps - it makes it fun! Wearing a S.
Biker Shorts - I was hesitant at first, but I’m here for a good pair of biker shorts! Wearing a S.
Leggings - A pair of black leggings is a must! Wearing a S.
Veja Sneakers - I also like these canvas Vejas and these leather Vejas . These Nikes looks similar and are half the price. If you need help with Veja sizing, I wrote about that here.
JOGGERS, UGG SLIPPERS
Joggers - A comfy, cozy staple! Wearing a S.
Sports Bra - A good black sports bra is always a good idea. I like the little cuts on the straps - it makes it fun! Wearing a S.
Ugg Slippers - This is the first year they haven’t had the Scuffette style (what I’m wearing), but these Fluffettes are good too! hey also have this Ugg sandal version. Wearing an 8.
MOONLIGHT PAJAMAS
Moonlight Sleep Shirt - I LOVE THESE PJS. They are seriously my favorite. I bought my MIL the shorts set and she loves them too. Here are the other versions: Shorts Set, Long Sleeve Set, Short Sleeve Set. Wearing a S.
Ugg Slippers - This is the first year they haven’t had the Scuffette style (what I’m wearing), but these Fluffettes are good too! hey also have this Ugg sandal version. Wearing an 8.
NICK’S PICKS
These are things he loves and wears ALL the time. I didn’t make him model anything, but these are what he goes for. He always gets a pair of Mavi jeans. He loves Bonobos shirts and pants. Saxx boxers are his favorite. He has these exact shorts, but hoping to update his collection to include these camo ones. Reidel wine glasses are our favorite. Oh and I’m hoping to snag these Vejas for him. I was kind of sad they didn’t include the Nike Killshots in mens - they did last year and this year women’s still had them… I forgot to include it in the collage, but he got last year’s version of these Vince sneakers and loves them / always gets compliments on them. A little pricey, but SO comfy. Nick also likes to buy suiting and dress shirts during this sale, but those are so personal, so I didn’t include any. Oh and these Sperries are a must re-buy because he wears these out / takes them to the beach.
