Omg. Can you believe that it is the last full week of January?! I know I can't. I feel like it was just the week before Christmas, like 2 days ago. Early December, it felt like a nice spring day in Dallas, TX. Toward the end of last year, it did get colder, but honestly, we don't get hit with much winter until January and February. I think we had around 3 ice days early 2015. While I love working from my couch, with the crock-pot going, I don't really enjoy the cold weather. I'm a summer girl for sure!

I've said it before (most recently here)but I have a thing for coats. I have them in several colors and mediums; however, one that I didn't have (until recently) is a lightweight jacket.  When I saw this coat (it's sold out in navy, but I listed the other colors and a similar navy one under the pics!), I knew I had to have it. Obviously I'd love to splurge on this baby one day, but eh you know not today or this year...

Anyway, until about a month ago, I didn't even know what I  was missing. Probably because Texas is either hot or cold, nothing in between... Nevertheless, lightweight jackets are awesome. They're shorter than any of my other outerwear and are perfect for layering, or wearing alone. If you've had one of these for a while now, don't roll your eyes, just welcome me to the bandwagon ;)

My love of lightweight jackets may be new, but my favoritism of quilted  items is not. The quilted look is SO classy and so fun to incorporate. My favorite way to don it, is in vest form. It's versatile and you can really wear it with anything.  I'm all about longevity of items (if you haven't already figured that you, lol) and the quilted vest fits into that category.  I don't see this style fading away anytime soon, so go ahead and buy one!

Want to know my secret for buying quilted vests that won't break the bank?? I shop in the youth and/or mens section. WHAT? Yes. It's true. My favorite quilted vest is black and very basic, but I love it. Where'd I get it? The J. Crew Factory mens section. Why do they put the guys' items on sale, but never the womens'? Well I'm onto them, and I'm fighting it!
