Happy New Year! I hope you had a fabulous holiday season. I know a lot of people's were filled with tragedy and sadness, but I pray that you still have joy.  I have now been sick for the second time in a month, but other than that, mine were filled with happiness and love.

Around the end of each year, anyone with an interest in fashion or design, anxiously awaits Pantone's announcement of its color of the year, for the following year. I already had my doubts that they could top 2015's color (see my original post on it here), but then again, I loved that color before it was even announced...it is even my main wedding color! (only 299 more days;) )

Now, I'll be the first to admit that I was disappointed in this year's color(s) choice. For the first time ever, Pantone chose two colors of the year for 2016- Rose Quartz and Serenity. When I first read that, I was like "huh"?? Personally, I feel that they usually do an awesome job at choosing a a color that transcends all aspects of design, from interior to shoe ; however, these two pastels left me scratching my head. Maybe I would have felt better about them, if it was just Rose Quartz, or just Serenity...but right now I just feel like I am on my way to a gender reveal. Like seriously. I shared the article on my personal Facebook page, shortly after they were announced, and people thought I was announcing I was pregnant with twins.

Now, Pantone says they picked the two tones, because they are tranquil colors and the world needs more peace. I'm in no way denying that, but really? I don't believe them. I spoke with  my favorite fashion professor at Baylor, and she didn't believe them either. She actually sent me this article on the topic. In her words, "It looks like the tail is wagging the dog". Aka Pantone's collaboration with Sephora, heavily influenced their color choice.

I'd like to believe that Pantone would choose a color without letting green dictate their decision (color pun, haha), but I'd also like to think this didn't happen to editorial space in magazines and we all know what occurs in that situation.

Regardless of how I felt, I knew I needed to post on the gender, er, I mean, color reveal. I actually was able to find these pieces in my closet already - I didn't have even buy anything - #ontrend - I will even go so far to say that I have worn these two pieces together before, but it was in the spring. I don't see myself wearing this in the fall at all, and only maybe in the summer and winter.

So, want to be on trend with your color schemes? Here's some inspiration to incorporate these new hues into your wardrobe, without putting a dash of Sephora's makeup on your face!
