Youā€™re probably like OMG Lauren, just let it happen; but, people spring will be here in less than 50 days. I know February is longer this year, but winter is going to end before we know it! Who am I kidding? I also live in Los Angeles and it is currently a sunny 77 degrees here as I type this. I used to pray for a longer spring in Dallas, because those 2 weeks where patio weather was on point wasnā€™t long enough.

I wanted to take it down a notch on todayā€™s Women in the Workplace Wednesday, because last weekā€™s talk about social media and co-workers was kind of serious and next weekā€™s topic is on dating your co-workers is going to be reallll deep; so, hereā€™s a lighter topic on how to take your winter blazer into spring with ya!

Everlane Blazer (c/o) | Everlane Air Shirt (c/o) | J. Crew White Jeans | Vince Nude Flats (s/o, similar here and here) | Kendra Scott Hoops | Senreve Coda Belt Bag with Chain (cheaper chain here, use code ELLEMULENOS for $50 off your Senreve purchase of $300 or more.)

I have 2 blazers - a black and white plaid one and this khaki/burgundy plaid. The black and white one is pretty easy to style, since you can wear white with it and call it springā€¦maybe add some pink lipstick or pop some blush accessories to lighten it up. I suppose thatā€™s what Iā€™m doing hereā€¦ wearing it with white and calling it spring. Hah!

Anyway, I wanted to style this one for spring for you, because I previously styled it here with a burgundy slip dress, here with a burgundy leather skirt, andddd here with a burgundy sweater and jeans. I guess I have a burgundy problem? I just wanted to show that even though this blazer might feel Christmasy, it can totally be worn and styled for for the warmer months. Layering is key for those awkward cooler mornings and warmer afternoons, right?

Hereā€™s 4 tips for helping you transition:

  • When in doubt, go light. Pick tints of colors like white or light blue, like my white t-shirt or washed denim. If youā€™re wearing it to the office, think cream work pants or a light neutral, skirt. These lighter hues will help brighten, even the darkest of colors!

  • Pop seasonal colors. Light pink, light green, light blue, even hot pink, and no this isnā€™t the same as above! You could still wear them with darker colors and maybe just splash a seasonal color to help it ring in the current season. ie handbags, earrings, nail color, lipstick, shoes

  • Change your bottoms. And not just the color! Trying pairing it with a more spring-ish style like a shorter skirt or even shorts like I did here. Obviously no shorts to the office though ;) Really just stay away from wintery textures to help it feel more current.

  • Update your shoes. Shoes are so indicative of the season! Come spring it is time to bare your toes, or at least some ankle! Think sandals, flats, or slides. Sneakers are so fun right now too!

Anddd really that is it. See? It isnā€™t hard. These are things to look for when buying staple wardrobe pieces. Not just how long will you wear them and what is the quality, but is it season-less?! Do you have any tips that I may have missed? Do share! Just trying to make smarter wardrobe decisions over here!
