My earliest memory of suede is probably Elvis' song "Blue Suede Shoes". I remember I bought a pair of green suede shoes one fall (as a high schooler) and really wanted to wear them to dinner, but it was raining, soooo I put plastic bags on my feet and dealt with it. #why
Anyway, there was a time between the story I mentioned above and now where suede came back "in". I mean I don't think it ever went out of style, but regardless, it is definitely having a moment right now. I think my favorite thing about it is that it has become pretty much seasonless. Remember the post I wrote on spring suede shoes?! I wrote it over a year ago and it's still trending! Now I'm not saying to wear suede over the knee boots during the summer (you'd regret that), but suede sandals or flats? Absolutely!
Chances are, you already own suede, but just in case, here some of my favorite forms! I'm not going to list "jackets", because you already know I'm obsessed with my suede moto jacket, that I mentioned here. Enjoy the other 3 things:
1) skirts. I picked up a suede mini skirt up at the Nordstrom Sale and have already worn it so many times! See how I styled mine here.
2) over the knee boots. OTK boots came back "in" about 3 Christmases ago and I LOVE them. I have some plain leather ones, but to be honest, my suede ones are my FAVE. See how I styled my heeled ones here and my flat ones here.
3) bags. This is probably the easiest way to add a little bit of texture to look - I mean you can take it away from your look anytime you want!
I think my favorite things about suede is that it an easy way to transition your look from summer into fall. I mean look at this white blouse!! It is such a summer piece, but paired with the jacket and boots, it looks more like autumn than summer. I listed textures as one of my favorite way to dress for fall in Texas (read that blog post here), because it migghhht be cold by Christmas. Who knows?! You just gotta work with what ya got!
How do you feel about suede? yay or nay? If yay, what is your favorite way to sport it?!
