Why we are Seeing Wonder Woman for Father's Day

Why we are Seeing Wonder Woman for Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to all my dads, grandfathers, uncles, fur daddies, and moms who also had to be dads (and dads who had to be the moms too!). My sister is coming back from a bachelorette party, so we are opting for dinner and a movie, instead of our normal Sunday lunch! What movie? Wonder Woman! I mentioned that to someone and they were like that's kinda a weird movie to see for Dad's Day... I was like actually it's not. Here's why:

1) My dad loves Wonder Woman. My dad had a crush Lynda Carter! At one point, my mom got him all the episodes of the original Wonder Woman show! We would watch one a night after dinner, until we finished it! Around that same time, I decided to be Wonder Woman for Halloween -too funny, right? I think one of my favorite stories regarding WW, was when I was in the 5th grade. We earned points or tickets or something throughout the year and at the end of the semester, we got to "buy things" from a "mini mall." My homeroom teacher had a little Wonder Woman figurine and I HAD to have it. I got in a bidding war with another girl and WON. I ended up giving it to my dad as a Christmas present and it still sits on his desk, to this day, alongside my WW Halloween photo;) I don't know if I have ever been more proud of a gift.

2) My dad is the perfect girl dad. I remember overhearing people say to my dad (and I'm sure some I didn't hear) about him not having any boys. The usual response is something like "...". Anyway, besides that being a horrible thing to say, my dad never thought differently of us being girls or wishing we were boys. From dance competitions to chick flicks, he was with us every step of growing up.

3) My dad empowers me and my sister. He embraced everything about us and our passions, as well as supporting us in every possible way. When I wanted to study fashion merchandising he didn't tell me to choose a more practical degree...he helped me find the best possible school, even if that meant I wouldn't attend his alma mater.

Anyway, that's why we're are seeing Wonder Woman tonight! There are many other things I appreciate my dad for, but that'll have to wait for another post. Have a great rest of your weekend and Happy Father's Day!
